Bite Beauty Frozen Berries Lipstick Review

9/09/2015

You know how the leaves change in the Fall? In other places, they do. Here in the land of palm trees, not so much. But I still like to try and participate in autumn as much as I can, even if I can't actually drink a hot pumpkin spice latte (actually, the salted caramel is better!) and wear layers and cute sweaters and scarves. When this limited edition collection was released by Bite back in July, I was on the fence about purchasing something I couldn't realistically wear until a few months later.

However, I got over that pretty quickly once I tried on the colors from this collection. I've been looking for some good berry lipsticks, and these are amazing. I picked up Plum, Juniper, and Black Cherry, since they looked best with my skintone.

The texture is typical for Bite's lipsticks: Very hydrating and emollient. If you liked Revlon's Black Cherry, but hated the formula, these may work out well for you.

I prefer to apply deeper shades such as these with a lipbrush. These shades are all incredibly pigmented.

Here's the problem: lasting power. I imagine it's because of how creamy these are, but they definitely don't last all day. Maybe about 3 hours, tops. Plan on reapplying these, for sure.

I wanted to go ahead and compare these shades to some other popular berry shades that other people may have. So I compared these all to MAC Rebel (closest to Bite Black Cherry), Bite Sancerre and Winterberry (closest to Bite Juniper) and Bite Bordeaux and MAC Media (closest to Bite Plum).

MAC Rebel looks more purple than anything, and I just included it because it's a popular berry shade. I honestly didn't have anything like Black Cherry in my collection, so that was good. I did find however that Winterberry and Sancerre were pretty close to Juniper, and though it's hard to see in the photo, Juniper is ever so slightly deeper purple and the color looks very bold compared to Winterberry, and Sancerre is more pink. Plum was also pretty unique, and I didn't have anything that would be a perfect dupe for it. It looks to be in the same color family as Media, but more red undertones than purple.
